Recipient heading verbatim: Al Factor de Tabacos de Guadalajara. Entry verbatim: Marzo 8. Pral. Ten.te Jose Arguello. pp. 412-13. Gloss: Arrillaga to the tobacco factor at Guadalajara, 8 March: the delay in the tobacco accounts of the jurisdiction is not, as supposed, because the administrator embezzled the funds, but because the officer who manages the branch was absent all of 1792 at the San Diego presidio by order of the Viceroy, and therefore did not deliver the accounts to the principal administrator Lt. Jose Arguello. Substantively a governor rebutting a suspicion of malversacion against a treasury official, and evidence that Jose Arguello held the post of Administrador Principal of the tobacco branch.
