Leaf-verified 2026-09-28 at n455 (stamp 447): the word is «pesos» — an earlier catalog reading had turned this money theft into a 400-musket theft.

The originals of these records burned in the 1906 San Francisco fire. What survives is Thomas Savage’s 1870s copy, and this page describes that copy.
