Of first importance. Subject “Miseria de los pobladores de S.n José y los Ang.s”. He had proposed to Branciforte a 6,000-peso memoria of goods to be sold for cash by the Monterey habilitado “a los infelices vecinos de los pueblos de S.n José y... los Ang.s como medio unico por ahora p.a q.e puedan cubrir sus carnes”; no answer came, so he repeats it. How to cite this document
Borica to Virrey Azanza, Monterrey, 1798 Oct. 25, Provincial Records, V–VII, p. 435-6., Archives of California, C-A 24, Bancroft Library, University of California, Berkeley. [the tomo is given as the volume’s full range: this entry has not been resolved to a single tomo within V–VII]Cite the document by series, tomo and original tomo page, as the literature does; the C-A number locates it in the repository. To cite this catalogue entry itself, use https://archivesofcalifornia.com/record/ca24/ca24-d835.htmlThe originals of these records burned in the 1906 San Francisco fire. What survives is Thomas Savage’s 1870s copy, and this page describes that copy.
