Previously uncatalogued — recovered by the 2026-08-27 coverage audit: the document lay inside the declared span of a grouped entry covering n429-n449, which had passed every completeness check while concealing it. Heading verbatim: 'Mayo 5. pp. 616-17 (3 doc.)' [= May 5 [1818], pp. 616-17, 3 documents. Under the running heading carried from n448, '+ 1818 = Monterey. / Borradores de Comunicaciones del Gobr al Virrey' (Drafts of communications from the Governor to the Viceroy).] Register of three drafts. (1) 'Acompana memorial pa. el Rey solicitando Grado de Coronel y qe cumplidos los 5 anos de Gobr se le confieran otros 5. mas, deseando acabar sus dias en la Prova.' The governor encloses a memorial to the King asking for the rank of Colonel and, his five years of government completed, for another five, wishing to end his days in the province. (2) 'Pide retiro para invalido con grado de Alferez pa. Jose Ma. Pico Sargento de Compa de Sn Diego.' He asks invalid retirement with the rank of alferez for Jose Maria Pico, sergeant of the San Diego company. (3) 'Da parte, hallarse 4 Mis. con un solo religioso.' He reports that four missions are left with only one religious. Item 1 is direct evidence of Sola personally soliciting promotion and an extension of his governorship in the spring of 1818; item 3 is a datable measure of the post-1810 collapse of Franciscan manpower.
