spans n264-n265. Estrada, alférez habilitado of Loreto, answers the charges

Provincial State Papers, tomo VII–VIII · BANC MSS C-A 4, document 323

spans n264-n265. Estrada, alférez habilitado of Loreto, answers the charges: he has reformulated the 1786 Real Hacienda account with the voucher for the 900 pesos of 'toros orejanos ó cimarrones'; after eight years as habilitado he will take no further charge and asks that another person be named to receive royal funds. On the herds: 'Los toros orejanos se nombran tales en Californias por ser fieras de los montes'. Cites his predecessor comisario D. Fran.co Alvarez Osorio; argues oaths are needless where the vouchers are legitimate.

The originals of these records burned in the 1906 San Francisco fire. What survives is Thomas Savage’s 1870s copy, and this page describes that copy.
