'Pesquisa del neófito Domingo' (a full battle account + fugitive-neophyte-raider keystone): Sgt. Pablo Antº Cota + 12 men rode to the Sierra ranchería of 'Fachicú' to extract the fugitive neophyte Domingo, 'prófugo de más de un año,' who — per his *Ministros* — 'hace robos y muertes en dicha Gentilidad.' The Gentiles (despite interpreters sent ahead to keep them calm) loosed arrows, wounding 3 of the party; the soldiers returned fire → 3 Gentiles dead + more than 8 wounded; Domingo escaped, but a Gentile who had accompanied him was taken prisoner and held pending Fages's decision. Orig. pp.374–376. → military register (a named 1788 punitive engagement) + indian-raiding (the ex-neophyte-turned-raider pattern, pre-secularization). Orig. pp.374–376.
