Verbatim heading: '1788 Enero 12 San Vicente / Gonzalez a Fages sobre el empleo que ejerce' [Savage: 'Gonzalez á Fages sobre el empleo que ejerce']. English gloss: Gonzalez to Fages, on the post he holds. Substance: he begs to be told what his legitimate company assignment is, since from last March, when he left Monterey, up to the present he does not know where he must apply to collect his pay ('no sabe donde debe ocurrir á cobrar su sueldo'). At the same time he reports the shortfall in the troop allotment of the escoltas of Santo Domingo and El Rosario ('la falta de la dotacion de la tropa en la escolta de Sto Domingo y el Rosario').

What survives is Thomas Savage’s 1870s copy, and this page describes that copy.
