Provincial State Papers, tomo VII–VIII · BANC MSS C-A 4, document 86

Soler's counter — 'las cuentas falsas del habilitado Sal.' The Monterey accounts 1781–87 show a 212-p. discrepancy from Alférez M. Carrillo's revista + 400 p. Sal allegedly 'escapó por enredo,' tangled with Cmdt-Gen Neve's sequestration of the late Carrillo's estate; ⚠️ and a dispute over Sal's purchase of *nutria* (otter) skins charged against the *Renta de Correos* vs. the company funds (esp. the 1783/84/86 buys) — Soler questions the accounting used to free draws against the situado. Recommends voiding the *libro maestro*. Orig. pp.171–176.
