Dep. State Papers, Benicia (Custom House), tomo I–VIII · BANC MSS C-A 41, document 164

Verbatim heading: 1844. - Feb.o 23. - Mont. / (P. de la Guerra - Admor. de Aduana &. -). English gloss: Pablo de la Guerra, Administrator of the Custom House, Monterey, 23 February 1844. Substance, Savage entry line verbatim: Reglam.to Provicional á que debia sugetarse el Receptor de la Aduana Maritima de S. Francisco, en lo relativo á los buques que hacian escala &. (consta de 9 art.s). Savage records the existence and description of a nine article provisional regulation binding the San Francisco receptor with respect to ships calling at the port, but does not copy the articles. This is the reglamento that the published n127 row (P. de la Guerra to B. Diaz, 7 March 1844) refers back to in its art. 1 as el Reglam.to de 23 de Feb.o pp.do, so the two entries interlock. Entirely on gap leaf n137, below the close of the Instrucciones; cite p. 265 - 68. Remainder of the leaf blank.

The originals of these records burned in the 1906 San Francisco fire. What survives is Thomas Savage’s 1870s copy, and this page describes that copy.
