The Nicolás Fink murder case: José Castro publishes by bando a Sup. Govt decree dividing the Republic's departments into two sections + renewing half the Cámara de Diputados (p.235). Then Alvarado's 1841 proclama — no Superior Tribunal de Justicia nor Junta Departamental being convened, he was obliged to confirm the Juez de 1ª's death sentence on the homicides Atanacio Valencia, Santiago Linares & José Duarte for the murder of the German merchant Nicolás Fink (p.237). A capital-case foreign-resident record; Alvarado exercising judicial authority absent the tribunals.

To cite this catalogue entry itself, use https://archivesofcalifornia.com/record/ca43/ca43-d464.htmlThe originals of these records burned in the 1906 San Francisco fire. What survives is Thomas Savage’s 1870s copy, and this page describes that copy.
