Headed 'Indios Cocomaricopas.' Romero's commission was 'el reconocim.to del camino q.e hacian los Cocomaricopas' plus his wish to take 'alg.a Yeguada'; Argüello distrusts Romero's confidence in them: 'una cosa será tratarlos cuando recalan á esos Pres.os, y otra dentro de las tierras de sus Tribus' — letters they carry 'han tardado 4 y 5 meses', some never delivered; the Cocomaricopa captain José took months to bring letters meant for Tucson 'dentro de 5 dias' before delivering them to Romero. Otter postscript: would have sent 'las dos Pieles de Nutrias q.e me pide' but 'haberlas vendido ya, todos aquellos q.e giran p.r ese articulo, y haber pasado la estacion de su pezca'; will send them to Mazatlán at first chance.
