Previously read Recipient recorded as the Minister of War.. The docket (blind sample audit #138/200, 2026-07-19) reads "Argüello al Mntro de ESTADO: Naufragio de un Buqe" — the letter goes to the Minister of State, forwarding the parte rendered to the Minister of War.

The originals of these records burned in the 1906 San Francisco fire. What survives is Thomas Savage’s 1870s copy, and this page describes that copy.
