Departmental Records, tomo IV–VI (Books 16–20, 27–32) · BANC MSS C-A 47, document 1361

Reply to Lawla's protest that he cannot pay, that the ship was only on his account to 28 July, that seizing his goods deprives the Sandwich Is. of privileges granted other nations, that his ship is held ('le mando el Gob. quitar las velas pr la fuerza') and 'qe la gente de Sta Catarina esta muriendose de hambre, pues solo le dejo (el Capn) viveres pa 15 dias.' Govt retorts: why did he present at Sn Pedro as captain, buy horses on his own account, and refuse to remove the establishment he founded on Sta Catalina; he must leave what is prohibited to export ('burras, yeguas, mulas +') which he may 'cambiar o vender.' Key Karimoko dispute.
