Departmental Records, tomo IV–VI (Books 16–20, 27–32) · BANC MSS C-A 47, document 661

Que el mismo (Herrera) arrojó de sí la proveduría que desempeña el Habilⁱᵗᵒ á quien son accesorias la aduana y rancho de la Nacion' — he never said Herrera should not handle the funds entering his office; if he abandons his post the Treasury will be left without a center in the Territory; Herrera himself cast off the proveeduría (now run by the Habilitado, to which the customs house and the national ranch are accessory).
