n289-n294. At Yerba Buena Comte Gral Vallejo arrested him — 'Lleve V. á Hartnell y entreguelo al cabo' — shoving the boat off 'con sus propias manos con mucha colera'; released at San Rafael with a pasaporte after Vallejo agreed 'debia darceles libertad á los indios y algunos bienes,' reserving funds for mission debts and the P. Ministro's support. Rancho of D.n Juan Reed (Reed) named.
