State Papers, Missions and Colonization, tomo I · BANC MSS C-A 52, document 36

Previously uncatalogued — recovered by the 2026-08-27 coverage audit: the document lay inside the declared span of a grouped entry covering n226-n237, which had passed every completeness check while concealing it. Heading verbatim: '+ 1779 - Junio 1 - Monterey. / Felipe Neve / = / Este docum.to se encuentra 3 veces repetido; estando uno de ellos impreso. / Veanse las paginas 155-230 de estos manuscritos. / pp. 598-682 y 732-70.' [= 1779, June 1, Monterey. Felipe Neve. Savage's note: 'This document is found repeated 3 times, one of them being printed. See pages 155-230 of these manuscripts. pp. 598-682 and 732-70.' The final -s/-o endings of 'uno de ellos impreso' are ambiguous in the hand; the sense is unmistakable.] A heading and cross-reference only; no document text follows it on n237 or n238. It marks Neve's Reglamento of 1 June 1779 (the foundational governing instrument of Alta California) and records that Savage found the document three times in the original expediente, one of those copies printed, and that he transcribed it at manuscript pages 155-230 of this volume rather than copying it again here. Everything above is what the leaf says; I have not inferred content beyond it.
