Heading verbatim: 'o 1797 - Mayo 12 - Mont.y / Borica al Com.te de Mont.y'. Opens verbatim: 'En of.º de 3 de Nov.e del año últ.º de 96, me dice el Exmo. Sr. Virey. Marq.s de Branciforte lo q.e sigue:' The viceroy text is then quoted: by the enclosed certified copy the governor will learn of the families and Indians who presented themselves voluntarily to the Intendant of Guadalajara and were admitted 'p.a dar principio á la Impor.te poblac.n de esta Peninsula'; orders were issued the same date for their departure from that province, their subsistence at Real Hacienda account, good treatment on the road and embarkation at San Blas, remitting them to the governor disposal so that on arrival he may place them as he sees fit while the expediente on forming the settlement is decided. Borica then gives his own order to the comandante of Monterey: from the date of this oficio begin to assist the 9 individuals, heads of family, listed in relacion no. 2, 'q.e son los q.e Realm.te ha conducido de S.n Blas la Frgta. Concepcion, en la clase de poblad.s' [= who are the ones the frigate Concepcion has actually brought from San Blas in the class of settlers], at the rate the Reglamento de la Peninsula assigns, 'á razon de 116 p.s - 3 1/2 r.s á cada uno en los 2 prim.s años, y los 3 sig.tes á 60.' Monthly muster is to be passed noting altas y bajas, duplicate extracts sent to the governor on the same terms as the presidial company so the annual general may be formed. And as soon as these families move to the site where the Villa de Branciforte is to be founded, he is to have supplied to them the aids of livestock, tools and arms the Reglamento provides, opening an account for each settler to be reckoned at the end of every year. Closes verbatim: '(Copia sacada p.r Hermeneg.º Sal. Monterey 2 de Junio de 1797)' with the cite 'pp. 907-8.' This is the order that actually put the Branciforte founding contingent on the payroll and names the ship that carried them.
