State Papers, Sacramento, tomo VI–IX · BANC MSS C-A 55, document 403

Since the copy states the Gobierno has no record of the terms on which the Sr. Presidente Intend.te de Guadalajara contracted the other Artesanos, the Viceroy now sends those proposed by the Ing.o en 2.o D. Miguel Costanzo and those of his own decreto of 3 de Abril del ano de 90. To avoid remitting artisans no longer needed, he recalls his orn. of 18 de Fbro. of this year that, with the state sent by D. Pedro Fages, another be formed of the Menestrales existing there contracted or 'remitidos por condena', their performance, conduct and the instruction they have given the Indians, and which are still needed; not done so far, he now presses for it.

The originals of these records burned in the 1906 San Francisco fire. What survives is Thomas Savage’s 1870s copy, and this page describes that copy.
