Heading verbatim: '1824- En.º 29- Mont. / Diputacion Provincial. Venta de pieles en Asia.' [= Sale of skins in Asia]. The Sr. Presidente lays before the body his proposal concerning 'la Goleta Americana Rober de su propiedad' [the American schooner Rober, HIS OWN PROPERTY], ready to sail for Canton with the principal object of selling '902 pieles de nutria' and 'un mil tres cientas diez pieles de lobo' [902 sea otter and 1,310 fur seal skins] 'correspondientes á la Renta pública en la Provincia', gathered by the arbitrios notorious to all; he argues they are worth far more in Asia and that the proceeds bear on the pay of the Province's troops. VOTED: the owner receives 'un cinco pr. ciento' of the goods brought back, after the vessel's voyage costs. ⚠ Cristóbal Palomares REFUSED TO VOTE, 'dijo q.e no podia votar pr. q.e no tenia inteligencia ninguna en estos negocios y q.e á mas abundam.to faltaba la 3.ª parte de la Diputacion'. The Presidente then moved the session to the house of the sick José Aruz so he might preside as 1er vocal; Palomares would not go; only the Castros and the Secretary went, finding Aruz in bed 'pero bien despejado de sus sentidos, sin mas enfermedad q.e un resfriado', whereupon he concurred. ⚠ 'Rober' is what is on the leaf; the vessel is probably the schooner Rover, but that is inference.
