Margin mark x. Spans n102-n103. Heading “Sobre delito de doble matrimonio.” Recites a cédula of 8 de Setiembre de 1776: over a competencia between the Tribunal de Inquisición and the Justicia Real ordinaria of Santa Fe in the nuevo reyno de Granada about cognizance of bigamy, Fernando VI by cédulas of 18 de Febrero 1754 and 19 de Marzo of the same year had declared the offence “de mixto fuero,” cognizable by both the justicias reales and the Santo Oficio, the accused to be handed over to the Inquisition on suspicion of heresy only after the royal punishment had been executed. But on the Consejo de las Indias consultas of 18 de Abril 1757 and 17 de Abril del presente año, by decreto of 21 de Julio del corriente año, it was resolved that notwithstanding the 1754 decrees “conoscan privativamente del crimen de doble matrimonio los Tribunales de Inquisición.”
