‘Sobre ocupacion del Puerto de Bodega.’ — ‘Dice le dió el Com.te de la Espedicion de Límites, D. Juan de Bodega y Quadra, idénticas noticias á las q.e le comunica (Arrillaga) en 15 de Marzo, sobre haber visto los indios de S.n Fran.co ancladas embarcaciones inglesas en Bodega. Que luego tomó providencias p.a q.e se reconozca y ocupe dicho Puerto, quitando á estranjeros ese abrigo inmediato á los Presidios, segun venía p.r su orden 30 de Marzo; y p.r ser importante abrir camino p.r tierra p.a la conduccion de ganados y demas auxilios reitera la órden q.e le tenía dada: q.e observe á ingleses &.’ [Gloss: San Francisco Indians reported English vessels anchored at Bodega; viceroy orders the port reconnoitred and occupied to deny foreigners a shelter next to the presidios, and a land road opened for driving cattle.]

The cuaderno has since been located and mirrored: AGN, Californias, vol. 9, exp. 3, ff. 40–147v, identified as “Quad.º N.º 19” from the cover sheet in the manuscript's own hand. Its own title is “Sobre fortificar los Puertos de San Fran.co, Monterrey, y San Diego con Artillería, pertrechos y demás utiles”, and its span is 1792–1794.
