On whether foreigners resident at Santa Barbara are exempt from the service of the mecánicas, etc.] Previous acta read and approved. ⭐ Oficio of the Alcalde of Sta Bárbara pressing for a resolution of his consulta of 7 April 'sobre si los extrangeros radicados en el lugar estaban ó no exentos del servicio de las mecanicas del Pueblo' (to the Comisión de Gobº, where the antecedents lie). Oficio of the Alcalde of Sn José de Guadalupe telling the Gefe Político he had been unable to make those vecinos abstain from 'corridas de ganado y caballada mesteña' as ordered on 5 May. The PRESIDENT said the Supremo Gobierno had charged him on his departure for this destination to take care to prohibit such corridas 'por considerarse estos bienes pertenecientes á la nacion', that he had issued his order accordingly, and that he made the observation so the commission would have the object before it in framing its dictamen; referred to Gobº y policía. Carrillo (D C.), as the only member then serving on that commission (the other two absent), reported it overloaded, and the Comisión de propios y arbitrios was joined to it. Two further oficios of the same Sn José alcalde: several vecinos of the pueblo refuse to attend the rodeos as the local Ayuntamiento had ordered; and an ordenanza de policía agreed by that Ayuntamiento sent up for approval; both to the same commissions. Representaciones of Joaquín Bernal and Juan Alvarez, vecinos of Sn José de Guadalupe, in a dispute 'sobre cierta parte de terrenos de entre los sitios que ocupan', with the communication of transfer and the parties' replies (to the comisiones de Colonización y terrenos valdíos).
