SESSION ACTA Heading verbatim: '+ 1834. = Julio 8 = Mont. / Diputacion Territorial' [= 1834, July 8, Monterey. Territorial Deputation. (Marginal mark: '+'. Savage abstract, opening 'Dice:'. The day digit is a figure-eight, checked at magnification against the 6 on n148 and the 5s on n147 and earlier on this same leaf.)] Concedido.' A mission Padre Ministro asks leave to make a moderate cattle slaughter in partnership with 'algunos de razon' (i.e. contracting with gente de razón) to cover debts the mission has contracted; GRANTED. This is the decision the 10 July session (next row) then reopens as a scandal. Savage's abstract does not name the mission; the 10 July acta identifies the correspondent as the Padre ministro of Mission San Luis Rey, and the two are very likely the same matter, but the identification is inference and is not on this leaf. Substantively this is the Deputation licensing mission-herd liquidation on the eve of secularization.
