Legislative Records, tomo III–IV · BANC MSS C-A 61, document 193

Previously uncatalogued — recovered by the 2026-08-27 coverage audit: it lay inside the span of a grouped entry covering n156-n190, which satisfied every coverage check while concealing it. Heading verbatim: '+ 1845. Julio 7 - Angˢ / (Sesion secreta extraord. de este dia.)' [= 1845, July 7, Los Angeles. Secret extraordinary session of this day.] Verified at full resolution; note that the sub-heading differs from every other in the band, reading 'Sesion secreta extraord. de este dia' rather than 'Sesion de este dia'. The previous minutes are approved. The President recommends punctuality in attending sessions and delivers a brief speech, stating he had learned unofficially that the acts of the Asamblea were being criticised and defects imputed to it which it has not incurred; he attributes to the absence of the Diputados and their omission to present themselves the delay in matters of public interest, for which reasons the respective suplentes were summoned. Diputado Valle states that in fact the Asamblea could not be reproached in its acts, since these were too public for it not to be understood that they were confined to the benefit of the pueblos; that if the want of the greater number of propietario Diputados caused defect to be imputed to the acts of the Asamblea, it had used the means within its faculties by urging its members to take their posts; and he proposes that for greater satisfaction the communications passed to that effect be published. Valle's proposition taken into consideration, the session is concluded. THIS IS THE LAST DOCUMENT THAT ENDS INSIDE THE BAND: the close falls part way down n188 and the remainder of that leaf is blank.

The originals of these records burned in the 1906 San Francisco fire. What survives is Thomas Savage’s 1870s copy, and this page describes that copy.
