'1836 Junio 1º Monterey / Mar.no Chico á la Junta Dep.l'. The S. Francisco de Asis ayuntamiento's appointment of an alcalde auxiliar for the far side of the gulf produced a jurisdiction conflict between that pueblo's alcalde and the military commander of the Frontera del Norte; resolved by telling the alcalde the frontera is excluded from his jurisdiction, and telling Lt. Mar.no G. Vallejo, its Comandante, 'que guarde y haga guardar toda consideracion y respeto á las autoridades constitucionales vecinas á la predicha frontera y obsequie sus solicitudes ya al pedirle un reo ó testigo, ó ya p.a otros objetos de público interes.'
