Diputación session of 29 Jan 1824, copied verbatim by Savage: 'En esta sesion se determinó que todo buque estrangero q. con título de ballenero anclase en cualquier punto de esta Provincia pagará cinco reales por tonelada, no esceptuandose al mismo tiempo estos y los demas buques estrangeros de pagar la leña q. p.a su uso embarcasen á 6 reales por cada lanchada.' [= every foreign vessel entering under a whaler title and anchoring at any point of this province shall pay five reales per ton; these and all other foreign vessels are likewise not exempted from paying for the firewood they embark for their own use, at 6 reales per lanchada (boatload).] A provincial tonnage duty on foreign whalers plus a per-boatload charge on firewood.
