Of first importance. «Traslada nota del Virrey Flores, 5 de Marzo que contiene resolucion Real relativa á que se abone sueldo de Coronel á Juan Bautista de Anza que fué relevado del Govierno de Nuevo Mejico por el de su clase Fernando de la Concha, si se le creyiese util para servir en Californias colocandolo en govierno politico y militar en primer ocasion, y si no se envie á España.» Royal resolution: Anza to draw a colonel's pay after being relieved in New Mexico by Concha, and — if judged useful — to be placed in the political and military government of the Californias at the first opportunity; otherwise sent to Spain. (Anza is generally given as having died at Arizpe in Dec 1788, which would make the order moot; not verified here.)
