'Quejas contra el Mayordomo.' Spans n218-n220 (four orig. pp.)

State Papers, Missions, tomo VI–XI · BANC MSS C-A 51, document 309

'Quejas contra el Mayordomo.' Spans n218-n220 (four orig. pp.). He put the Gov's order of the 10th into the mayordomo's [Albisu's] hands; on the 19th, seeing weekly matanzas and carts of hides and tallow going to the embarcadero, he asked in writing whether there were any esquilmos and got a flat refusal; argues the matanzas must yield the mission a share since it supplies the people, horses, carts and oxen. Asks Jimeno to press the Gov for an energetic order that his indispensable expenses be paid and the urban property be granted to his church, which is poor and has no fixed income, forcing the padres into debt; 'el Corpus no se celebró pr. falta de cera.' Asks Albisu be ordered not to meddle with his servants. Closes with a long verbatim quotation — see next row. Tomo IX.
