Two-leaf unit: Savage's unnumbered facing note (n236) + the circular plate itself (n237, stamped 238 / inner 60½). Fr. Luis Gil de la Mision de Sta Cruz — en el año de 1827.' The figure is a nocturnal star-clock: 'Cabeza. Mayo 1º' at top, 'Pié. Noviembre 1º' at bottom, radial lines labelled Línea Junio 15, Mayo 15, Abril 15/1º, Línea Marzo 15, Febrero 1º, Enero 15/1º, Línea Dice 15, Dice 10, Nove 15, Octe 15/10, Setiembre 15, Sete 10. ⚠ The note is Savage's own Bancroft-era editorial commentary, NOT a primary 1820s document; only the plate is original.

This entry is not citable as a document. The catalogue withdraws or qualifies it, so read the note above and follow it to the record that supersedes it. No citation is offered here on purpose.
The originals of these records burned in the 1906 San Francisco fire. What survives is Thomas Savage’s 1870s copy, and this page describes that copy.
