Legislative Records, tomo III–IV · BANC MSS C-A 61, document 180

Previously uncatalogued — recovered by the 2026-08-27 coverage audit: it lay inside the span of a grouped entry covering n156-n190, which satisfied every coverage check while concealing it. Heading verbatim: '+ 1845. - Mayo 26 - Angˢ / (Sesion de este dia.)' [= 1845, May 26, Los Angeles. Session of this day.] The longest of the May sessions, four leaves. Land grants approved: Mariano Bonilla; Ygnacio Coronel (the parage called la Cañada); Juan Roland (la Puente); a petition of Carlos Guillermo Flugge for approval of a grant of one hundred sitios de ganado mayor at the point called Boga; a petition of several merchants of the capital of the Department for the establishment of a Tribunal mercantil; a petition of Julian Pollen in his own name and that of twenty foreigners for land to colonise on the banks of the Rio San Joaquin in the comprehension of San Francisco; a representation of Miguel Prayer on the closing of a callejon. Then a constitutional crisis in miniature: the President states that the political division of the Department has been obstructed for want of the full number of Diputados, and the same difficulty prevents the quinterna for Governor being made. Valle proposes calling the Suplentes for the absent propietarios; the vocal Botello objects that the legal requisites and excuses of the absent propietarios Spence and Noriega must first be demanded, since their bare word does not discharge their responsibility; a long exchange follows and Valle's proposition is approved, Botello voting against. Figueroa observes that the Asamblea has been legislating for a long time without the corresponding Reglamento, and undertakes to produce the one formed by the Junta territorial.

The originals of these records burned in the 1906 San Francisco fire. What survives is Thomas Savage’s 1870s copy, and this page describes that copy.
