Legislative Records, tomo III–IV · BANC MSS C-A 61, document 74

Previously uncatalogued — recovered by the 2026-08-27 coverage audit: the document lay inside the declared span of a grouped entry covering n61-n72, which had passed every completeness check while concealing it. Heading verbatim: '+ 1840 Sta Barb.a / Anastasio Carrillo al Gob.dor' [= 1840, Santa Bárbara. Anastasio Carrillo to the Governor.] Two brief communications abstracted under one heading at the top of n71. En.o 14: 'Se escusa de asistir á la Junta Dep.l por enfermedad', that is, Carrillo excuses himself from attending the Junta Departamental on grounds of illness. Dic. 20: 'Lo mismo', the same again. These supply the documentary backing for the repeated notices of Carrillo's absence through illness recorded in the acta runs on n62 and n63 (Feb. 22, Feb. 29, Mzo 9, Mzo 13). The eighth-fractions in the page cites indicate leaves inserted into the original Tomo III between pp. 412 and 413. I note without resolving it that a December entry sits among April material; that is what the leaf shows.

The originals of these records burned in the 1906 San Francisco fire. What survives is Thomas Savage’s 1870s copy, and this page describes that copy.
